An Update and A Goodbye

Well, I'm going to start with the 'goodbye'...  Actually, it's more of a 'See You Later'...

Last weekend, my husband and I were notified that his mom wasn't doing too well. We dropped everything and flew out to California to see her and our family. We are soooo glad that we did. My mother-in-law has had Parkinson's for about 10 years or so. We knew this time would be coming, but one is never really prepared...

We had one wonderful day with her, where she was alert and could communicate with us. We shared stories with her and updated her on our kids. We told her how much we loved her. My hubby described the week perfectly. It was a week of Praise, Prayer and Pain. We spent time having devotions with her, singing to her, mostly holding her hand. I'm so thankful to The Lord, we were able to be there.

Sadly, as the days went by, she declined quickly... Mom was a believer in Christ and went home to be with Jesus. We were sad to see her go, but relieved that she was out of pain. The joy we have is that we will see her again in heaven! So, we will see her later.

If you can, I would appreciate you remembering my father-in-law in prayer, this will be a time of transition for him. He is a kind man and took wonderful care of mom during her illness.

Now we are home and back to reality...

After being gone a week, I had therapy yesterday, and my therapist really worked me over. Ugh! It's been about 10 weeks since my shoulder surgery and I really feel so much better now.  I've been doing resistance bands and my therapist just added in weights. I am feeling stronger and stronger each day. Therapy really does work. While we were in California, I did my exercises everyday. I'm really trying to stay disciplined, because I know it's going to pay off in the long run.

I tried walking around the block because it was gorgeous outside.... I made it most of the way around. Little by little, I'll get there!

Blessings to you!

  3. So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother-in-law. I just prayed for your father-in-law. When we lose loved ones who are believers, I always think of that lovely old song lyric, "In the sweet by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore!" What a blessed thought!

I always love reading about all that goes on at the Stonybrook House. How blessed you guys are to have such a beautiful home, and the knowledge and ability to do the upgrades your doing. I have so many things I need done around here, but I'm not sure how to do these repairs myself. All that said my favorite entry was the one about my all time favorite person in our family my Aunt, Kenneths MoM Leslie.I know she is at peace, out of pain, and that I will see her again one day. Thank you for such an amazing tribute. I love you guys!
