I am at a cross roads... With my hair. I'm trying to figure out what looks best on me. I've just spent the last couple of hours scouring photos of my hair for the last decade and more. Hmmm... It's been pretty eye opening... You should try it. Here's one from the 80's....Oh Boy! What a fashionista...NOT!
Are you one of those that keeps the same hairstyle for 20 yrs? I've seen this same style today! Look at my baby girl... so adorable!!
Hair is sooo important to women! We spend hours on it! Well, I have.... Seriously, men have it pretty easy. It's either short, super short or like my hubby, shaved.
Here's one from 2000. Oh, dear Lord...
I can't imagine one reason I thought that was even remotely attractive. Horrible! Embarrassingly awful!
Oh! Thank The Lord, I grew it out a bit!
Nice round shag cut, with a flip at the bottom...very in... at the time. Kinda reminds me of Florence Henderson from The Brady Bunch!
We're going to jump to 2006. That short flippy look. Better...
Still the same kinda look in 2009. You know finding these Christmas photos, you can see the change in all of us over the years. :) I couldn't resist this one, my daughter cracks me up!!
Summer of 2011, I must have been hot, because I got a very short stacked bob. It's not bad....eh....
Later in 2011, I thought it would be cute to get a perm...Not lovin that look. Plus no picture looks good taken from below.
2012, I must have decided to forgo the perm. Good call. Growing it a bit longer.
Here I am with a sweet blogger friend of mine... Miss her! It's 2013 and the hair is still straight and short to medium length.
2014 was the year of growing out the bangs. I have ALWAYS had bangs.
This was hard to do. Many many times I wanted to cut them, but I figured I should try this at least once in my lifetime. I was thrilled when they got to the point where they would stay tucked behind my ears.
So... What to do?
I'm pushing 50, I used to think that when I got "older" I wouldn't have long hair. You know the whole "hanging on too tight". But now... 50 doesn't seem that old and having hair somewhat long doesn't seem like it's only for the young, so we'll see.
Going through all these photos has also given me an opportunity to see what worked and what DID NOT! I always thought I had too big of a forehead to go without bangs, but it doesn't really seem that bad. We are always our own worst critics!
When I started this post I seriously didn't know what I was going to do with my hair, cut it, leave it, go back to bangs. But I think I've sorted it out. My favorite years would probably be 2009, 2013 and now. Thanks, guys! You helped me and you didn't even know it! I'll be calling my hairdresser tomorrow and making an appointment. :)
Just for fun...What year is your favorite?
Blessings!
Any way you wear it you are Beautiful love u Aunt Norma
ReplyDeleteWell, I have had very short hair for over 20 years. I am going to grow it out a bit to try the Buena Vista bob. Short hair has been so easy! I just think with a more streamlined clothing style, I can take more time on hair. Good luck!
ReplyDelete2001 is the best! Cracked me up! I think that every family in America did the black sweater and turtle necks that year! I know we did!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you like what you decided!
Ikr, Rosie!! Then there was the white shirt and jean phase... Now it's complimentary colors and patterns. Appt. is on Friday... we'll see. :) Thanks for stopping by!!
DeleteI think your hair looks great in EVERY pic! We had some of the same styles too! And I say age doesn't matter. I'm 53 and my hair is longer than it's ever been and I'm enjoying the versatility of it. Miss you friend!!! You are as beautiful as eva!!
