Our Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Thanksgiving!  I wanted share what a traditional Thanksgiving dinner looks like at
 The Stonybrook House.

Some of these recipes have been a tradition for years! I hope you enjoy them too!

I’m going to mix it up a bit…. Let’s start with dessert first! (shoot, who wouldn’t want to start dinner with dessert first….that’s the sugaraholic in me speaking…)

Pumpkin Brownies... YUM!!!

Okay… hold up a minute…. I have to put on the brakes here and tell you, just how excited I am for Thanksgiving! My kiddos are coming home! I  am so ecstatic, and have created such a huge list of things to do, that I can barely sleep. 4 am mornings are quickly becoming a nuisance! But it will all be worth it, just to see their smiling faces! 3 more days!! :)

Alright…. Back to the delicious, feed-me-more recipes!

Pumpkin Brownies…. What a strange name… The crust has the texture of brownies, but they don’t have a lick of chocolate in them. But in our family, they are requested over any other pumpkin dessert! So we gotta have them!

Next up…Pecan Crusted Sweet Potato Bake, this one has been a hit for years!
I can eat way too much of this, definitely a personal favorite of mine! Oh, my!

Cranberry Sauce…. How do you have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner without it? My friend, Sara, from Major Hoff Takes A Wife, created this recipe and claims it is the best ever and it looks A LOT easier than the one I’ve been making. So, I’m definitely going to try this one!

A new addition to the dinner this year will be my Red Cabbage Salad. This salad has such a punch of flavor! Delish!

And last but not least…. The turkey! I love all the leftovers this big bird gives us!

This recipe comes from the Clever Housewife.

I always cook my turkey in one of those plastic turkey bags, and if you’ve never tried it? You should! It is always thoroughly cooked through, always juicy, always perfect! Stuffed or unstuffed! By the way…. yes, I will be stuffing my bird, there is something ultimately yummy about stuffing from the bird. Sorry… no recipe for that… yet.

There will most likely be a few other dishes added, but these are some the must have's for our family. :)

Here's a quick click list of all the recipes here:

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time. Of course, to enjoy delicious food, but it's also a time to spend with family, bantering back and forth, (which is highly probable with my outlandishly sarcastic family!) playing games, chatting and catching up, perusing the black Friday sale ads (and no we will not be shopping on Thanksgiving!!!). But the very most important thing....

Being thankful. Thanking my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for family, friends, safety, health, freedom, church, food, shelter, job, husband, marriage, sunshine, creativity... seriously the list can go on an on.  I have so much to be thankful for. We all can find something to be thankful for.

I hope and pray that you enjoy this season of thanksgiving!

Blessings!
