Edging, Painting and Repainting

It has been a “fun” filled week of painting!! Sure, it’s A LOT of work, but it was long overdue! Plus it looks soooo amazing! How can a little color make such a huge difference?

If you remember back in my Plans for 2016, I showed you what my entry looked like.
Entry in desperate need of paint

And this is what it looks like now! It looks so clean and fresh!
Front Door Entry

Did you see the pics I posted on Facebook of Hubby on that 22’ plus ladder? Scary!!! Well, just incase you didn't get to see....
Hubby Painting on Dangerous Ladder

He did such an superb job! I am so thankful for my sweet Hubs that always jumps right in and helps whenever I need him. He loves me so much! <3

These are 20 foot walls.... This is only going to get done once. So this was it!

I was pretty terrified climbing up onto the landing to paint. I was actually doing all the edging. I literally had to talk myself into it. “You can Do this, Lori! Yes, you can!” I would have never got up there without Hubby being home. But I did it!
Me painting on landing....scary
That picture is a little deceiving.... I'm actually on a step ladder on the landing. :)

So, I’m going to give you a little walk thru of all that we painted.

I already showed you the front door area. This is the staircase going up to the 2nd floor.
Entry Staircase
I haven’t really redecorated the chest of drawers there…. Oh, well.

But I want you to take a look at the upper right side of that picture.  See where the wall/ceiling has that odd “45 angle” I tried painting that the wall color. Not a good choice. So now, I’m in the process of priming it and returning it to the ceiling flat color again. Ugh!

Now, if you are standing at the staircase and you take a look to the the left, this is the Billiard Room.  We changed the “formal living room” into this a couple of years ago. It was quite the project! I love the board and batten we did in there, but I don’t know why I painted it that baby poop brown. Yuck!

This the before:

And this is after:
Ahhhhh.......
Billiard Room left

Billard Room Right
What a difference, right??? Omg! I’m sooo loving this! I never really finished this room. I kinda lost inspiration. But now that it’s repainted??? I want to finish it!

Let's finish and head up the stairs….
Remember the trouble I had finding the perfect gray? So many of the paint swatches looked blue or purple.  This one was the winner!
Glidden Smooth Stone

I am in love with this color. I don't usually pick Glidden.  I'm a Behr girl, but this was the perfect color.  I just had them mix that color with Behr paint. It looks so nice right up against the white trim. Which, by the way, all of it needs to be repainted. But that won’t be happening anytime soon.  There’s too much fun stuff to do before that!

At the top of the stairs…
Upstairs Hall

Looking at the other end…
Upstairs Hallway Left

Let’s take a look from the top…
Looking Downstairs Left
Ooops… forgot to move the tripod.

Looking Downstairs Center

Poor pitiful chandelier….Nasty brassy… Somehow, that baby WILL be changed out!!
Looking Downstairs Right

Now, it’s time to give the ole’ shoulder a break. Just a bit. I still need to put the gallery wall back up in the Billiard Room, with a few tweaks here and there. Then I want to get started on the staircase, the boob lights, the chandelier. So much to do… so little time.

Blessings!!

  1. Whoa what a difference a little colour does - it looks great - good on you both for digging in and getting it done, everytime you open the front door and walk in and looking down from the staircase you are gonna get a tingle..:-)
