I asked my daughter how I looked and she said, "That's a lot of sweater". And it is but, I was definitely warm! Here's a shot without the fringe sweater.
(Oh, and btw... I lost those pesky 7 lbs. I gained at Christmas! I'll be sharing more about that later this week.)
And now for the Refashion.... These jeans used to be a bit big and they used to be bootcut jeans. I sewed up the inseam and made them more of a straight/skinny jean. I also took them in a bit at the waist. They aren't a heavy denim fabric, so they were pretty easy to sew. These jeans were always a bit too short, so I only wear them with boots.
Speaking of boots, I love these boots! I get complements on them almost every time I wear them. I especially love the red zipper that goes up the back. You can barely see it, but it's so darn cute!
My daughter just left to go back to Virginia. She graduated college and is going to get started on her career. The job hunt will start soon. She'll be looking for a job in the graphic design field. I believe God has the perfect job picked out for her!
While she was home, she scanned through all of "My Fashion Over 40" posts, and informed me that a couple of those outfits were not so fashionable.... Yeah, I agreed with her. This is "My" fashion over 40 and it's about my style. It will change and there will be a few fails along the way. It happens, oh well. Have you ever seen some old pictures and ask yourself, "WHAT was I THINKING??" I'll have to find some, just for fun! :)
The Power of Prayer Is Real!
I've been a Christ follower for a long time, and I "know" that prayer is powerful, but do I REALLY REALLY know it. If I did, why do I treat it so insignificant. Sometimes, I feel like I'm just crossing off an item on my "to do" list. But it is so much more than that! So. Much. More!
Our pastor shared about how we can make prayer a very selfish time. Who do we pray for? Ourselves, our family, things that affect us or people that affect us. See, how it becomes all about us?
We can be 'Helpers in Prayer'. When we see a need, pray. When we see someone hurting, pray for them. Pray for them right then and there. How many times have you said, "Oh, I'll be praying for you", and then you don't because usually you forget. I can't tell you how many times I've done that.
Why don't we stop and pray for them right at that moment? Maybe we don't want to make them feel uncomfortable... maybe we're the ones uncomfortable, or just looking for an excuse. Hey, I'm guilty. Or I might not want to take the time because I'm too "busy". Yeah, I know that's a pretty lousy excuse. Just keepin it real, people....
I need more courage and faith, to believe God could do something right then and right there to help that person, heal that person, change that person's life! Lord, please help me.
There are so many people hurting or going through tough times, and when someone stops and takes the time to listen, truly care, and pray with them, it could totally cheer them up! Or even better God could use us to help change their entire situation and help them see that God loves them and will take care of them.
2 Corinthians 7:5-6(CEV)
5 After we came to Macedonia, we didn’t have any chance to rest. We were faced with all kinds of problems. We were troubled by enemies and troubled by fears. 6 But God cheers up people in need, and that is what he did when he sent Titus to us.
I want to make prayer an instinct, like blinking, like breathing. I don't think we understand the power of prayer. If we did, I believe we would be praying a lot more! And I think we would be seeing the power of God at work in ways we couldn't imagine!I've been married almost 27 years, this February. I couldn't imagine what our relationship would be like if we didn't spend time together, talk together, solve problems, have fun, laugh, discuss our future, etc. We probably wouldn't be together anymore.
For me to have a good, close relationship with The Lord, will require time. Time to read His Word and to talk with Him. My prayers don't have to be long or eloquent. They just need to be heartfelt, with a child like faith that believes, truly believes.
Philippians 4:6The Message (MSG)
6-7 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Blessings,
