First up...
Easy DIY Pom Pom Pineapples
My daughter has had a thing for pineapples for YEARS! Long before they became all the rage. But now there is pineapple everything! And she is loving it! 😍Pineapples are making their presence at her wedding, so it seemed fitting to have them at her bridal shower. They came out soooo adorable! She's saved them and is going to use them for her wedding. 😊
This is going to be a super quick tutorial, because they are so easy!
You need tissue paper, scissors, string, glue gun and a glue stick. The colors will depend on your preference. I chose white pineapples with a gold and metallic gold crown.
I will just go ahead and give a disclaimer here. My photos are crap! I took them all with my phone and mostly at night... yeah so there.... Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! And... I wasn't sure I was actually going to do a post on this, so if you don't understand something because I don't have a photo, please feel free to email me at thestonybrookhouse@gmail.com and I will do my best to help you out!
Okay into the tutorial. You see those little tied sections of tissue paper? That is the pom poms. You take about 5 sheets of tissue stacked and fold them accordion style about 3/4 of an inch wide. If you need more instruction on that check out my Pinterest - Shower Board. I have a couple of tutorials pinned there for more help.
Then you measure and cut them into 6 inch sections. Snip the ends into a point and tie in the center. The next part is a little tricky but once you get the hang of it it's super easy. And again you can check out those other tutorials.
Open the accordion and start separating the 5 layers of tissue. It's pretty cool how it puffs out.
Two pom poms are needed to form the pineapple. I used my glue gun to secure them together.
Pretty easy!
I found the crown a little more time consuming, but definitely not hard. I made a cylinder out of scrap paper to have something to secure the "leaves" to. I used a glue stick to secure it closed.
Then I cut 'leaves' out of the gold and metallic gold tissue.
And let the gluing begin! I glued some on the inside of the cylinder, and did layers all around the outside. I alternated between the gold and metallic gold tissue to give it some dimension. I used just a glue stick to secure the ends to the cylinder. I had so much fun making these!
Once the crowns were complete, all I had to do was secure them to the pom pom pineapple. I used my glue gun for that. Just apply glue around the base of the crown and attach it to the top of the pom pom pineapple. There you have it!
Here's how they looked at the shower. Soooo cute!! You can click on the photos and it will take you right to the bridal shower post.
