My daughter just moved back to college last week. This is her first apartment and I'm so happy for her!
Aren't they nice? About a week before moving, she got bit....Bit by the DIY bug!

I'm going to start with her new headboard.
Well, it's new to her... We picked it up off of Craigslist with a box spring and frame for $35!! What a steal! But the spindles kinda reminded us of a baby crib.
Our daughter wanted it to have a solid back, because she spends a lot of time sitting in bed studying.
So, Hubs got to work cutting the spindles off.
Easy enough. We happen to have a piece of wood that would work for that space.
Hubs wasn't sure how to attach it.
Then I showed him the awesome little Kreg Jig tool I received at Haven, the blogging conference I went to.
It's really cool, and it worked perfect to connect the two pieces together. Plus it is so sturdy!
Next, I touched it up with some wood putty and sanded it.
Ok, here is where my daughter took over and completed the rest of the project.
First she spray painted the wood board an off-white. Then the fun part! She used this tape Chevron Frog Tape, I also received at Haven.
She jumped in and started taping.
She did 4 chevron stripes. Then she painted the off-white once more to help seal the edges.
She is a painting maniac!!
Of course, we used my favorite Rustoleum Spray Paint, and she LOVED the Rustoleum Paint Sprayer Comfort Grip. She said it made it so much more comfortable to spray.
Of course that was a quick throw together, because we left before she was totally settled in.
I'll be sharing even more of her projects this week.
This was only 1 of the many projects she worked on. I think she's pretty happy with how it turned out.
Well, this momma thinks she did an awesome job!!
That looks great Lori! Morgan did a fantastic job. Can't wait to see the other projects.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! She sure did! Oh, there will be a few more coming.... :) Thanks for reading!
DeleteWhat a cute headboard! Your daughter did a great job.
ReplyDeleteHer apartment complex looks very nice.
Hi Dee! She's so artistic... I guess that's why she's a graphic design major! She is very blessed to have such a nice place. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThose look just like the apartments I lived in at MTSU but, I wasn't as crafty back then. Cute headboard.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jamie! I know what you mean, my son's apartments look similar too, but He's in Illinois and she's in Virginia...
DeleteI appreciate you taking the time to read! Blessings, Lori
