A Cross In The Christmas Tree

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! There is so much busyness going on at this time of year. I want to stop and enjoy the moments and cherish these times; I wish it wasn't such a struggle.

I, like the rest of you are asking where did this year go? How are we really only 2 days from Christmas? Yet, here we are... wrapping presents, baking cookies, getting ready for family gatherings.

Speaking of family gatherings... my kiddos will be traveling home today! One is already on the road for a 12 hour drive! Oh to be young again!! I just love the times all of our family can be together!

This was our spur of the moment picture taken this year at Thanksgiving, on a gorgeous day in PA. The warm weather has continued and we are supposed to have record high's here...60-70 degrees at Christmas? Crazy!

Last Sunday, our Pastor shared an interesting thing, that I've never seen or heard of before. I wish I would have taken a picture of it! I even Googled it and couldn't find anything like it. So, you'll have to use your imagination....

Picture a festive Christmas tree decorated with gold, silver and white decorations, very beautiful! Then unexpectedly, you see red lights going up the trunk and across the center forming a cross.

Our Pastor, went on to say how he looks forward to that time of bringing those items from storage and setting up the tree, in anticipation of Christmas. And how we all decorate our Christmas trees with memories and special ornaments. We adorn our Christmas trees with things that have meaning to us.

God adorned a tree also, a long long time ago with His most precious treasure, His Son. He lovingly "placed" Him on the tree, so that we could have a relationship with Him.

Not only do we decorate the Christmas tree, but at the foot of it we place our gifts for one another. Things we spent time thinking of, purchasing, or making and wrapped them up with a bow.

What is at the foot of the cross? The blood that ran from His broken body. The blood that forgives us of sin and brings us into the family of God. He restores us and loves us, this is the gift He has given every person.

Isn't that a unique picture of Christmas? I just might be picking up some red lights for Christmas next year. :)
