My daughter, Morgan, just moved back to college last week.
This is her first apartment and I'm so happy for her!
Aren't they nice?
About a week before moving, Morgan got bit.
Bit by the DIY bug!
She had a bunch of projects to do, and all of them had to be done in one week! I'm going to start with her new headboard.
Well, it's new to her... We picked it up off of Craigslist with a box spring and frame for $35!! What a steal!
But the spindles kinda reminded us of a baby crib.
Morgan wanted it to have a solid back, because she spends
a lot of time sitting in bed studying.
So, Hubs got to work cutting the spindles off.
Easy enough.
We happen to have a piece of wood that would work for that space.
Hubs wasn't sure how to attach it.
Then I showed him the awesome little Kreg tool I received at Haven, the blogging conference I went to.
It's really cool, and it worked perfect to connect the two pieces together.
Plus it is so sturdy!
Next, I touched it up with some wood putty and sanded it.
Ok, here is where Morgan took over and completed the rest of the project.
First she spray painted the wood board an off-white.
Then the fun part!
She used this tape I also received at Haven.
She jumped in and started taping.
She did 4 chevron stripes.
Then she painted the off-white once more to help seal the edges.
She decided to paint the headboard a nice medium gray.
She is a painting maniac!!
She LOVED the paint sprayer attachment.
She said it made it so much more comfortable to spray.
Awww... now that doesn't look like a baby crib at all.
Of course that was a quick throw together, because we left before she was totally settled in.
I'll be sharing even more projects this week.
This was only 1 of the many projects she worked on.
I think she's pretty happy with how it turned out.
Well, this momma thinks she did an awesome job!!
That looks great Lori! Morgan did a fantastic job. Can't wait to see the other projects.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute headboard! Your daughter did a great job.
ReplyDeleteHer apartment complex looks very nice.
Those look just like the apartments I lived in at MTSU but, I wasn't as crafty back then. Cute headboard.
